The Anti-Midas Touch

Has anyone else noticed how everything George W. Bush has ever touched turns almost immediately to shit? I’m not just talking about the Country’s economy tanking nor Benazir Bhutto’s security detail (which the United States was apparently advising her about) nor the war on terror nor the campaign to make “the perpetrators of 9/11 pay for their crimes” or any of that jazz. I’m talking about just Everything, including the “necessary illusions” that the Elite of our Country need to maintain in order to keep us lowly plebs in our economic and political places and not out on the streets or behind the barricades or smoking pot and wearing flowers in our hair… When the people who work for the benefit of the Elite and fight their wars and buy their gadgets and watch their newscasts begin to actually cognate and realize that their Wonderful Country committed genocide against the very first Americans and has exploited immigrants, both legal and illegal, from the Country’s very inception and has continued doing so ever since, and that it has always initiated brutal wars of conquest (such as the Mexican-American War) and that it has used torture and political murders long before any official bases were established “off-shore” at Guantanamo or Saigon City or any other foreign country in order to do these things without legal oversight, then the Elite must be worrying hard! Sometime back, some poll or another reported that over half of the population in the United States believed that “9/11 was an inside job”–that essentially the leaders of their government were complicit in mass murder!–just as FDR has long been suspected as allowing the “surprise” Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor–or, as Noam Chomsky points out, the U.S. actively supported the invasion of East Timor with its mass murder and genocide on a par with Pol Pot in Cambodia. For over half of the U.S. population to believe this of their Country’s Leaders is really astonishing for “the World’s Greatest Democracy” when you think about it much–or even just a tad! It certainly must have the Elite trembling in their pharmaceutical sleep with nightmares they haven’t had since at least 1968. My own prediction is that they will once again regain their control through more of the same as they have always maintained their control: more assassinations at home and abroad, more wars, more Pearl Harbors and 9/11s. Bush’s Anti-Midas Touch has failed them miserably with its non-specificity. No wonder that Hillary or even Obama is now apparently the Elite’s choice to regain the nose ring of the American people and led them placidly back to pasture or slaughter again.
